• May 5, 2021 - Byers Engineering Company has become a wholly owned subsidiary of MasTec, a Fortune 500 company listed on the NYSE as MTZ. See www.Mastec.com. 

• May 21, 2015 - Doug Stanford joins the firm as Regional Vice President with responsibilities for the SE region.  Former SE Reginal VP, Dan Clark, returns to fulltime former position as VP of Business Development. 

• April 6, 2015 - Byers Engineering Company engaged by the North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation for fiber design services in connection with its initiative to connect EMCs statewide.

 

• January 1, 2015 - Winstream awards Byers Engineering Company contract for its 2015 Round 1, Phase 2 Connect America Fund (CAF) engineering in Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.

 

• November 18, 2014 - Georgia Department of Transportation to deploy Byers Engineering Company's NexusWorx Fiber Management Software (FMS) in its upcoming 5 year ITS statewide maintenance contract.  This will be the sixth State DOT to deploy NexusWorx, making Byers Engineering Company the leading provider of FMS to DOT's.

 

• August 1, 2015 - Byers Engineering Company signs National Agreement with Level 3 for OSP Design Services nationwide.

 

• July 1, 2015 - Byers Engineering Company awarded Mini-Master, OSP design contract for Mississippi.  Including Alabama and Louisiana, this is the the third statewide Mini-Master contract which Byers Engineering Company is currently engaged by AT&T-SE.

 

• May 1, 2015 - Byers Engineering Company awarded contract for the Growth Volume Bids with AT&T in Kansas.

• January 15, 2014 – Atlanta Gas Light Company (AGL) was recognized by the Georgia Department of Transportation, District 7 (GDOT) for the outstanding quality of its permitting process during 2013. AGL acknowledged its permitting contractor, Byers Engineering Company, for its attention to detail and overall understanding of the GDOT permitting requirements. GDOT stated that the performance of AGL, and its contractor Byers Engineering Company, led to the creation of this award. This new award will continue to be presented by GDOT, District 7 on an annual basis to the utility providing the highest quality of permit submittals during a given year. 

 

• January 14, 2014 - Byers Engineering Company awarded the Mini-Master Agreement by AT&T- SE for BAU design services for the state of Louisiana. This will be the second extension of this contract, which was originally awarded in 2011. The new contract will run through March of 2019.

 

• January 2, 2014 - Byers Engineering Company awarded the Mini-Master Agreement by AT&T- SE for BAU design services for the state of Alabama. This will be the second extension of this contract, which was originally awarded in 2011. The new contract will run through February of 2019.

 

• December 20, 2013 - Byers Engineering Company's Aamer Abbasi was recently awarded iBwave® Level 1 Certification through the iBwave® Design Certification Program. The Level 1 certification, demonstrates that you've learned how to use the iBwave® Design platform and how to create, and trouble shoot a project.

 

• March 31, 2013 - Byers Engineering Company has acquired the assets of Telespan Network Services, LLC. This firm provides site acquisition and A&E design services for such clients as AT&T, Verizon, General Dynamics, Bechtel, Crown Castle, American Tower, and Motorola in AZ and California. This acquisition adds much needed capacity in AZ and Southern CA just in time to take advantage of multiple growth opportunities in that area.

 

• February 7, 2013 - Byers Engineering Company, a privately held Atlanta-based company that does business nationally, announces the appointment of Timothy H. Parker as Chief Operating Officer. Parker previously served as President of the company’s Engineering Services Group. Byers also announces the March 31 retirement of N. Allen Robertson, President of the company’s SpatialAge® Solutions Group, who has been with the firm since its founding in 1971. 

 

• January 31, 2011 - Byers Engineering Company announces the hiring of Frank Roberson as Vice President – Business Development for the SpatialAge® Solutions Group. Mr. Roberson, formerly of QC Data, brings more than 19 years of leadership experience in providing professional services to the telecom, utility and corporate real estate industries, with an impressive resume for building long term relationships through understanding his clients’ business and developing cost effective solutions that predictably deliver their business requirements.  
  


• January 11, 2011 - Byers Engineering Company's engineering group was recently awarded ISO 9001:2008/TL9000 R 5.0 certification from DNV Certification, a leading international certification body. The company passed a series of rigorous process and procedural audits to be certified by the latest international standards for quality in the telecommunications services area. The certification became effective January 10, 2011.

• September 2010 - Byers has established an Australian company to provide planning, engineering and related services to the communications industry in country.
  The Australian registered company is listed as Byers Company Pty. Ltd.


• October 12, 2010 - Byers Engineering Company awarded Mini-Master Agreements by AT&T- SE for BAU design services in Southern Louisiana, Southern Mississippi, and Outstate Georgia. Cities covered by this contract include New Orleans in LA, Gulfport, Biloxi, Hattiesburg, and Meridian in MS, and Rome, Columbus, Macon, Savannah, Augusta, Athens, and Gainesville in GA.


• August 18, 2010 -- Byers Engineering Company awarded Mini-Master Agreement by AT&T -SE for BAU design services in S. Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. Cities covered by this contract area include Mobile, Montgomery, Opelika, and Selma in AL and Pensacola, Milton, Panama City, and Chipley in the FL Panhandle.
  


• July 27, 2010 -- Byers assists Hardy Telephone in securing Federal Broadband Stimulus Award.


• April 15, 2010 -- Byers Engineering Company executed an amendment to its existing agreement with Mountain Limited (Mountain) allowing it to in-source a group of engineers it had been subcontracting from Mountain to service its ongoing contract with Fairpoint Communications in New England.


• March 11, 2010 -- Byers Inducted into the Technology Hall of Fame of Georgia.


• December 24, 2009 -- Great Lakes ComNet to Manage Fiber Network with Byers' NexusWorx Fiber Management Solution.

• July 30, 2009 -- Southern Light Fiber Purchases Byers’ NexusWorx Fiber Management Solution.

• March 2, 2009 -- Byers Engineering Company Acquires Planning and Engineering Assets of Ajilon Communications, LLC.

• April 2, 2007 -- Byers Engineering Company Acquires Randstad Communications.
